While many groomers won’t even touch cats, we are blessed to have Brandy, the lion tamer, who has a huge cat clientele, and has some advice for you on cat care.

Many times we wait until our pet is in a severe state before we go to the groomers.  Because we don’t realize how much time has gone by since our last visit. Then when we make it there the costs are higher because the work is harder and more dangerous to the pet or the groomer. The matt grows and becomes tighter and then begins to pull at the skin and can become full of mold, sores, fleas, and fungus, that you will not notice and it also makes it more difficult for your pet to walk and move causing physical and emotional stress to the cat.

The reason it is more costly to do a cat is that cats fight the process more than dogs do. Cats do not stand for you, they scratch (which could potentially give any groomer “cat scratch fever”), they bite (Brandy has been hospitalized for cat bites before as the bacteria in the mouth is much more potent in a cat) and, the bite is much more intense and expensive for your groomer medically

Here are a few tips on taking care of your cat between visits:

Make sure you have the correct type brush and especially a comb. Combing is how you get the smaller matting out. If you cannot get a comb through your kitty, we cannot either.

Combing and brushing should be done at least weekly or bi-weekly depending on the cat’s coat and hair length. Shorthaired cats get matted too.

Nail trimming is important too. As sometimes nails can be ripped off by getting caught in the carpet and also nails grow into the paw and sometimes have to be surgically removed.

Cat grooming should be done at least every three months to avoid matted coats, hairballs, etc.

Nail caps available for application or to sell to you to apply them at home. Please call for an appointment to have them put on your cat.

SOFT CLAWS (Nail Caps for Cats Nail Caps for Cats)

Soft Claws, also known as soft paws, were both developed by a veterinarian.

Soft Claws are vinyl nail caps that work great for problem cat scratching.

Soft Claws are a great alternative to cat declawing.

Soft Claws cat claw covers help protect you and your home from problem scratching.

If you’ve tried other ways of preventing your cat from scratching, you’ll really appreciate the simplicity and effectiveness of Soft Claws.

Training cats to stop scratching takes time and patience and is often ineffective.

Nail trims last only a short time before claws are again sharp enough to scratch skin and cause damage to house-hold surfaces such as drapes, carpets and furniture.Soft Claws Nail Caps!

While scratching is natural behavior for cats, it can often cause problems for cat owners. For years, the standard solution was to declaw the cat.

Now your veterinarian has an alternative to declawing that is both practical and painless-Soft Claws Nail Caps for Cats.

You merely glue the vinyl cat claw tips on your cats nails, and your cat can still ‘scratch’, but can’t cause any damage.

Happy cat, happy owner! You won’t believe how easy it is to apply Soft Claws yourself at home with a Soft Claws / Paws Take Home Kit.

Soft Claws Nail Caps offer an alternative for cat owners who face any of these common situations: Older cats at risk for declawing Kittens too young to be declawed Feline skin conditions irritated by hind-claw scratching Destructive claw-sharpening in the home Outdoor cats living indoors temporarily Unintentional injuries to you and your family caused by playful cats.
